Thailand Snack Reviews

Thailand Snack Reviews

You can buy Thailand snacks practically at every tourist area. Price will varies at different location even though it is under the same store.

Pocky Mango Flavour

Price: 10 baht per box.
Sold at Platinum Mall

1 box inside only got 12 sticks.

The smell and flavour is intense and strong. Once you open up the packaging, you can smell the mango flavour already.

Lotte Koala's March Mango biscuit

Price: 100 baht per box (7 individual packets in one box).
Sold at Big C.
At the 6th floor of platinum mall, CHOKDEE & MEECHAI sold 2 for 150 baht.

It is actually like hello panda, but with mango fillings instead. The mango fillings are lesser than the chocolate fillings in hello panda.

I do not recommend this.

Pretzel Tomyam flavour

Price: 12 baht

There is similar item sold in Singapore too. This one seemed to be more worthwhile as compared to Pocky as there were many in one box.

Bento squid

Price: 45 baht for 12 packets
Sold at Big C.
Spicy and not crispy.
I do not recommend this as you can buy it in Singapore too.

Crab flavour Seaweed

Sold at Big C
Crab flavour was not strong, just taste like the usual seaweed. It is still tasty though.

Shopping Experience in Bangkok 2019

Shopping Experience in Bangkok 2019

Most Worthwhile Shopping Mall: Terminal 21

The food is cheaper and tastier than other place. It is even cheaper than the foodcourt in platinum mall. There were many food variation in Terminal 21 too.

Terminal 21 have different theme at each level, making it a place where you can take ton of pictures.

If you like T-shirt with cute design, you can find some here too. But most clothes are mid-price range.

Cheapest (and nice) clothes: Chatuchak Market

There is one shop that sells t-shirts for 60 baht. However, she don't allow us to bargain even when we bought 3 shirts. But the clothes is cheap enough so we bought it anyway.

Do note that the cutting of the armhole of the grey sleeveless shirt isn't really good. The cutting is lower than normal armhole, and the cloth at the front armhole, near the chest area, will protrude out.

The following was common in Bangkok:
  1. Many T-shirts with cute design at an affordable price (below 200 baht).
  2. Fruit flavour hand-made soap
  3. Essence sticks
  4. Undergarments
  5. Denim material clothing (is cheaper in bangkok)
However, they don't have the following:
  1. Long wallet
  2. Knee length vest
  3. Cheap Sneakers (below S$10)
  4. Cheap, comfortable and trendy sandals  (below S$10)

Lesson learnt:

  1. 4 hours of shopping was our limit.
  2. Shopping under the sun will really diminish the desire to shop.
  3. Foot massage is really necessary.
  4. Prices at Airport was really expensive, so don't leave your souvenir shopping (eg. Boots shopping) till than.
  5. Don't think clothing in Bangkok is always cheap. 100 baht clothing was not very common. Usually those stylish piece will be more expensive and you can easily get it online at the same price or even cheaper.
There were indeed many stalls in Bangkok. It wasn't a fruitful trip as we were very self-disciplined adults, buying what we really need than what we think is nice.

I think shopping in Bangkok will be more suitable for 24 years old and below where they will need more T-shirts in their wardrobe.

Bangkok Shopping Trip - Day 6

Day 6 - 30 May 2019 Thursday

Summary
  1. Victory Monument

9 am - We left for Victory Monument. Some stalls were opened before 10 am but not all. It could be because it rained in the morning but I'm not sure.  There were indeed small stores that sold 100-200 baht clothing.

10 am - We went to Center One, similarly, not all stores opened. So come after 11 am will be better. Prices were below 200 baht.

We continued walking via skywalk to the other staircase.

There were a bag store that sold less than 100 baht. It was all thrown together and the quality may not be very high.

We went back to Center One for lunch.

There was a shop that sold earrings at 20 baht and 6 for 100 baht. However, the design weren't as special as those we saw else where.

At this restaurant we experienced eating boat noodle style. There were small and big portion. We tried small one of various types. Prices were reasonable and food were delicious.

We ate at this restaurant

Menu

Crispy Wanton, 15 baht

Tom Yam Noodle Soup, 15 baht

Deep Fried Crispy Pork Skin, 15 baht

Beef Dried Noodle
The Boiled Pork with Lemon Spicy Sweet were also tender and nice!

We went back to our accommodation and make our way to the airport.

We made our back to Singapore!

Bangkok Shopping Trip - Day 5

Day 5 - 29 May 2019 Wednesday

Summary
  1. Chalerma Park
  2. MBK center
  3. Siam Square
  4. Siam Center
  5. Siam Paragon
  6. Central World
  7. Lam Cha-Reon Seafood
  8. Big C
9.30 am - Chalerma Park was near our accommodation, and since there was still some time, and the sun was less glaring, we decided it was time to take pictures of the street art. There weren't any people at all.

9.45 pm - We climbed the stairs to the skywalk. MBK center was yet to open when we reached. It was warm but there were some shades so it was better than nothing.

10 am - Many stores were not opened so we went to Boots which were opened. We shopped at Boots, buying the tourist's favorite items. We realised that stores at different place may have different prices.

By the time we shopped finished Boots, most stores were opened. So I think if you plan to come in the morning come after 11 am.

A renown shop selling T-shirts
We walked to ALA ART at 2nd floor. You need to exit the building to walk to another building. The only highlights of the building was the street art design on the walls. There were many stalls selling business wear there.

We went to 6th floor, MBK food island for lunch.

Taste better than crab meat fried rice
As time was limited we shopped specific shops at each level.

6th Floor - Craft village (there wasn't much unique or special items)

Amazing metal art on display. Only after that then we realised it was for sale. Their store was below.

5th Floor - MBK lounge

Show your passport, filled up a form and as a tourist, you will be able to get a tourist card where you discount at certain stores (we didn't use it in the end).

Only when asked, did they offer pineapple biscuit and drinks (water or coffee). The portion was quite big so if you are not hungry, can just ask for 1 plate.

There wasn't anyone there. You can sit there and rest. There were charging station.

4th Floor - Daiso
3rd Floor - Fashion clothing
G Floor - Tops market

We went to Siam Square and Little Zoo Cafe. However, we realised that we didn't bring out enough money. We can either eat something nice or go to Little Zoo Cafe. In the end, we chose to spend money to eat something nicer.

The price was more expensive than the price I researched online. The place was down an alley. We saw people going in, so even though the place was a bit out of place, it was still quite popular.

We were lucky as usual, at the atrium of the shopping mall (I think is Siam Center) there were animal soft toys display.

Saw this inside the mall

We didn't really shopped at the shopping malls because it was obvious it was over our budget.

Siam Center was connected to Siam Paragon too.

Interesting cake design

I didn't manage to take a clear and nice picture of the Harrods bear at London, but here I did!

There were many popular seafood restaurant here. The price was expensive though because it was based on the weight of the seafood.

We walked to the Central World via the skywalk. It was a long walk. I thought it was just beside Siam Paragon, but walking to Central World via the skywalk was really long.

We wanted to eat food court at Central World but when we reached we realised there weren't any food court!

6 pm - We finally decide to eat at Lam Cha-Reon Seafood (recommended by some blogger). There were actually one branch at other shopping mall.

Seafood Pineapple Rice

It was delicious! The crab meat taste fresh.

There were some stalls in front of Central World selling food. The barbecue meat tasted nice.

We walked up the stairs connected to the skywalk and went to Big C again.

9 pm - Reached accommodation.
