5-Day Paris Itinerary on a Budget - Day 5

Paris Day 5: 28th May 2018 Mon

We went out at 9 am and came back by 10.30 am before checking out.

Wall of Love - Mur des Je t’aime

Can you find the Chinese word of "I Love You"?

Push pass the gates to enter to this park at Square Jean Rictus. Early in the morning, there wasn't any people.

Happy and unhappy guards

The trip up was a bit steep and tiring. May not be suitable for elderly or young kids.

After much climbing, we reached the Sacré-Cœur!

We didn't bother walking down the stairs to take photos. You should though, cause from just the entrance of Sacré-Cœur, you wouldn't be able to take in the full view of the architecture.

Sacré-Cœur

There were quite a few numbers of tourists already though. So you wouldn't be able to take photos without people in the background.

To take the photo with "The Man Who Walked Through Walls" at Place Marcel Aymé, you will need to walk down the ramp and walk back.

Moulin Rouge

The Moulin Rouge exterior was under renovation.

We didn't see any peddlers that was so well known around this area. So perhaps you can consider the route we took.

We went back to airbnb and checked out. We took the Tram 7 to Orly Airport.

We took the plane to Rome. Actually they didn't really check the bag size, don't have those scenario whereby the airline was super strict about it. So don't worry!

5-Day Paris Itinerary on a Budget - Day 4

Paris Day 4: 27th May 2018 Sun

Musée d'Orsay

We went to Musée d'Orsay in the morning, around 10.40 am, then realised the ticket that associate with the eurostar ticket was not free tickets but 2 adult tickets for the price of 1. So we didn’t went in. The outside view was quite grand but I suppose you need to walk very much further to get the full view of the architecture.

We took the metro and reached Arc de Triomphe around 11.30 am.

Arc de Triomphe
Arc de Triomphe

There was a small stretch of pathway in the middle of the road facing the Arc de Triomphe. There was people queuing there to take photo of sitting in the middle of road with the Arc as the background.

Long Underpass to the Arc

You can not just cross the road to the Arc. Instead take the underpass to the Arc. There will be people queuing to pay to go up the Arc. If you just want to see the Arc underneath of the Arc, just walk pass them and walk up the staircase beside them. the queue will be like in the middle of the long underpass.

The sculpture at both sides of the Arc

After taking picture of the Arc, it was already 12.30 pm. We walked down the Champs-Elysées to Pedra Alta. There were many restaurant and luxury shops. We also saw some race car on the way.

Pedra Alta

We queued for more than 30 minutes. We only managed to enter at 2 pm.

Riz Grill
What we planned to eat

Long plate of fries that come with Riz Grill

Riz Grill
Riz Grill 44.80 euro. There's free bread (it's very hard though).

Riz Grill is sufficient for 2 people. For 4 people, you wouldn't feel full, just no longer hungry. We added Fillet de Bouf, and the waiter was kind to exchanged the plate of fries for salad when I mentioned that I don't want another plate of fries (It took a while to communicate in English but we managed).

The chips that look like "fries" are crispy but those near the bottom can be too salty

Fillet de Bouf - $43.85 euro

The Fillet de Bouf is okay only though, wouldn't recommend it.

At another table, someone was celebrating birthday. All the waitress sang Happy Birthday song in many languages. The atmosphere was quite high at the moment.

There was washroom in the restaurant. We took some potable water from the washroom.

Grand Palais
Grand Palais

After we finished eating at 3.25 pm, we walked around 30 minutes to Grand Palais. We took photos of the exterior.

We visit Petit Palais opposite of it.

There were toilet in the museum. There were seats outside the toilet, so you can sit and wait for your accompaniment when required.

We exit the museum at 5.30 pm.and walked 15 minutes to Pont Alexandre III.

Took a photo when crossing the road.

There was a very grand building at the end of the Pont Alexandre III. I think it is a university.

5-Day Paris Itinerary on a Budget - Day 3

Paris Day 3: 26th May 2018 Sat

By 8.52am, we came out of the metro, Cité. On the left of the entrance was the Sainte-Chapelle.

We just took a few pictures then walk to Notre Dame Cathedral

The queue wasn't long when we reach.

Short queue

But by 9.30 am, the line was long at the Cathedral. So if you don't want to wait so long, go early!

Long Queue
We took the wrong route so we missed Shakespeare & Company. But it's okay, cause it was not spring blossom period, so I don't think we missed much.

We walked and bought food from Boulanger Patissier for lunch.

We used the toilet at the second floor of Burger King as we cannot use the toilet at Macdonald. At 11pm, we entered Luxembourg Gardens, and eat our lunch under the shade.

Eclair
The food was okay.

After lunch, it was time to take photos!

Luxembourg Gardens

By12.45pm, we took the metro to Châtelet - Les Halles, and window shopping at Forum des Halles for a while. There was an open space that acts as a smoking area. There were many benches around, so you can rest your legs if you wish to. There are some seats with USB output where you can charge your stuff!

Saw the street art just right outside the exit of the shopping mall.

At 1.30pm, we walk to The Centre Pompidou. There wasn't as much exhibition outside as expected. You will have to get pass the security check first, but don't worry, you can use the toilet inside for free even if you don't plan to pay to enter the museum.

The Centre Pompidou
There wasn't any real sign that it is
The Centre Pompidou but the staircase is a known feature of it.

Saw some street art on the way.

Isn't that a cool dog?

We visit Free'P'Star. This place was suppose to have cheap second hand item. The price was cheap, but the place was really cramp. It was hard finding any hidden gem.

We "explored" Jewish quarter of Le Marais neighbourhood. There were some crowd on the road and in some restaurant that we passed by.

Street art

We didn’t manage to buy food from the famous L'as du Fallafel as it was closed.

We went to Galeries Lafayette. Someone was giving out some free tidbits at the exit of the metro. Lucky!

There were indeed many people. We went to the top floor and see the view for free. There were people but not so crowded till you can't get a view from the railing.

It look a bit gloomy, like it was going to rain, so we decided to go back to airbnb first to rest.

We took the metro to Trocadéro, and by 9.05pm, we reached Place du Trocadero to take the sunset view of the Eiffel Tower.

Luckily it didn’t rain. However, the dark clouds looming behind the Tower didn’t give us a fantastic background. Perhaps from the field watching towards Trocadero will have a better background cause there were streaks of warm colours.

Eiffel Tower
Finally we get to see the Eiffel Tower!

When you exit from Trocadéro, walk towards the Eiffel Tower. At both sides, will be the staircase where many instagrammers used to take their photos.

There was barrier to prevent people for sitting and standing near the edge but you can still see people climbing over it just to take nice pictures!

At night, the Eiffel will light up. There will be peddlers walking around to sell drinks, including wine. At night, there was music and people dancing at the space between the two grand staircase.

After taking photos and admiring the Eiffel Tower, we went back airbnb.
