Bangkok Shopping Trip - Day 5

Day 5 - 29 May 2019 Wednesday

Summary
  1. Chalerma Park
  2. MBK center
  3. Siam Square
  4. Siam Center
  5. Siam Paragon
  6. Central World
  7. Lam Cha-Reon Seafood
  8. Big C
9.30 am - Chalerma Park was near our accommodation, and since there was still some time, and the sun was less glaring, we decided it was time to take pictures of the street art. There weren't any people at all.

9.45 pm - We climbed the stairs to the skywalk. MBK center was yet to open when we reached. It was warm but there were some shades so it was better than nothing.

10 am - Many stores were not opened so we went to Boots which were opened. We shopped at Boots, buying the tourist's favorite items. We realised that stores at different place may have different prices.

By the time we shopped finished Boots, most stores were opened. So I think if you plan to come in the morning come after 11 am.

A renown shop selling T-shirts
We walked to ALA ART at 2nd floor. You need to exit the building to walk to another building. The only highlights of the building was the street art design on the walls. There were many stalls selling business wear there.

We went to 6th floor, MBK food island for lunch.

Taste better than crab meat fried rice
As time was limited we shopped specific shops at each level.

6th Floor - Craft village (there wasn't much unique or special items)

Amazing metal art on display. Only after that then we realised it was for sale. Their store was below.

5th Floor - MBK lounge

Show your passport, filled up a form and as a tourist, you will be able to get a tourist card where you discount at certain stores (we didn't use it in the end).

Only when asked, did they offer pineapple biscuit and drinks (water or coffee). The portion was quite big so if you are not hungry, can just ask for 1 plate.

There wasn't anyone there. You can sit there and rest. There were charging station.

4th Floor - Daiso
3rd Floor - Fashion clothing
G Floor - Tops market

We went to Siam Square and Little Zoo Cafe. However, we realised that we didn't bring out enough money. We can either eat something nice or go to Little Zoo Cafe. In the end, we chose to spend money to eat something nicer.

The price was more expensive than the price I researched online. The place was down an alley. We saw people going in, so even though the place was a bit out of place, it was still quite popular.

We were lucky as usual, at the atrium of the shopping mall (I think is Siam Center) there were animal soft toys display.

Saw this inside the mall

We didn't really shopped at the shopping malls because it was obvious it was over our budget.

Siam Center was connected to Siam Paragon too.

Interesting cake design

I didn't manage to take a clear and nice picture of the Harrods bear at London, but here I did!

There were many popular seafood restaurant here. The price was expensive though because it was based on the weight of the seafood.

We walked to the Central World via the skywalk. It was a long walk. I thought it was just beside Siam Paragon, but walking to Central World via the skywalk was really long.

We wanted to eat food court at Central World but when we reached we realised there weren't any food court!

6 pm - We finally decide to eat at Lam Cha-Reon Seafood (recommended by some blogger). There were actually one branch at other shopping mall.

Seafood Pineapple Rice

It was delicious! The crab meat taste fresh.

There were some stalls in front of Central World selling food. The barbecue meat tasted nice.

We walked up the stairs connected to the skywalk and went to Big C again.

9 pm - Reached accommodation.

Bangkok Shopping Trip - Day 4

Day 4 - 28 May 2019 Tuesday

Summary
  1. Terminal 21
  2. Healthland massage
  3. Ratchada Rot Fai Train Night Market

11 am - Similarly, like other shopping mall, you have to go to the counter to take the card and add money into it to use it to buy food.

At 11.30 am, the place was full of people but not yet crowded. The place gets crowded after 12 pm.

The Tom Yam was delicious albeit a bit spicy. The portion was a little small but it taste different from other Tom Yam. Rice noodle + Tom Yam are indeed the best match!

Dish No. 11: Spicy & Sour Rice Noodle Soup with Mixed Fish ball and Boiled Fish, 45 baht

We bought from Phad Thai - Hoy Tod St. Louis stall. This was crispy and nice too. But it was oily and get a bit sick of it after a while. So best to share with 2-3 friends just to taste it.

No. 5 stall - Hot Plate Fried Seafood, 85 baht

At first I thought the crab meat was inside the wonton but it was not. Anyway, this time round, the crab meat was bigger and tastier! The soup was nice but the wanton was so-so.

Stall 21, Dish No. 11: Egg Noodle with Crab Meat Wonton and Soy Roasted Pork, 55 baht

There is always another stomach for dessert! It was cheap too! 1 scoop cone ice cream cost 10 baht, 2 scoop cup ice cream cost 15 baht. Lime and chocolate was nice!

It was known that the toilet at every level is different. Here's how they look like externally:
Sans Francisco toilet

London toilet

Japan toilet

At the basement, inside the toilet was a round basin that looked like a water fountain.

Outside was a mouth of truth that I didn't see when I was in Europe.
Basement level is Greece

At level 3, the toilet was like India theme with lots of mirrors.

At Terminal 21, there were shops that sold clothing at 100-200 baht. However it maybe out of fashion. Most of them were mid-price level clothing.

Aren't the design cute?
Terminal 21 is also a mall where you can take pictures at every level.

The rabbit presenting \the shoe

There were H&M at Terminal 21, but prices weren't as nice as Singapore.

There were Daiso at the basement of Terminal 21. I don't think it was worthwhile as it was more expensive than in Singapore and it was a smaller store.

We went to Healthland Spa for 2 Hr full body thai massage. I have ordered via the Klook app prior coming to Bangkok. I called 2 days before to make an appointment.

I wasn't able to get through via the contact number given by Klook. Instead I called the number given on the website. The receptionist spoke English, so it was fine.

This proved that the sim card can be used to make phone calls. I'm not sure how much they deducted from the prepaid card, but as long as I made my appointment, I'm not going to use it for any calls anymore, so I'm fine with it.

We exit from gate 2, crossed over to Westin than turn right. Then we walked all the way straight, the direction opposite of the MRT. Use gps, google map to walk to there. It wasn't a long walk, crossing the road was once again a small challenge.

2.45 pm - We reached Health Land Spa & Massage Asoke.

Talked to the people standing in front of the counter. They will usher you to the correct counter (cause I think not all receptionist know English).

They will scan the Klook QR code and ask you to sign the receipt. Then they will ask you to seat to wait for them to call. They will call you through the broadcast. Walked to the staircase leading down, there will be people who will serve you.

You will need to take off your shoes at the area. They will keep your shoes for you and give you slippers.

As I booked for 3 people, we shared one room. The thing is, they didn't ask whether we want individual rooms or shared room but just assume. Which means, we need to change our clothes together at one room without any cover...You will require to change into their massage outfit.

Thai massage wasn't a massage that allows you to sleep as they will shift your body here and there. The masseur did make small talk with one another, but not constantly. I'm not sure if it is normal, but they let us lie down in the room while they left the room for a while (like more than 5 minutes).

600 baht for 2 hour thai massage in a safe place was affordable. However, I do see other massage parlor that cost cheaper. But I do not really recommend those small parlor cause usually the room was only separated by a curtain.

After massage, we walked back to Terminal 21 and eat again! The food there was really cheap and delicious. Really recommend to go there and eat Thai food.

Mango Sticky Rice, 35 baht
Braised meat

We took the MRT to Ratchada Rot Fai Train Night Market. The MRT was below of BTS station. There were a long queue as it was peak hour. There were a long queue to the machine and ticket office. The queue to the ticket office was quite fast (5-10 min).

Once we reached Cultural Centre, we exit via Exit 5. There was a board telling you which exit to go. Once out, turn left entrance and turn left again. There were many people walking to the same direction. There were some stalls on the side.

Crossed the small road to the Esplanade Mall.

We shopped a while at the stalls at the Esplanade Shopping Mall atrium.

We used the washroom at the mall because we were worried the night market do not have clean washroom.

After that, we walked to the back of the mall where there were stairs to the exit. We walked straight and crossed the road to reach the Ratchada Rot Fai Train Night Market.

There were many people at the Night market, many tour guides too.

There were a few lanes where they sold food only. The food lanes were the most crowded ones. My plan was to eat there, but the place was stuffy and hot, so we ate some barbecue meat only.

The pork meats were delicious but the beef ones were not.

I do suggest eating the seafood here though cause I think the price was reasonable and cheaper than those in malls.

There were customised leather, t-shirts and pom-pom slippers shops. Similarly, there were nice design shirts. There were also stalls that sold earrings. The earrings were placed on the table so you need to search for your favourite ones.

There were only one stall that sold lace shirt that looked nice. But it was a bit translucent and big, so I gave it a miss.

There was another stall that sold galaxy sneakers. You can customise it based on the seller. But the price was more than S$10 so I didn't buy it. I believe sneaker can be bought online at a cheaper price. However, we can't deny that the galaxy designs were nice.

The rainbow cheese toast can be found at the area where it was higher than the stalls at the ground. The place was less crowded and there was a durian stall nearby.

No one was buying the cheese toast though. The price was also not cheap.

We decided to go home, and once again we were lucky because by the time we reached the MRT, it started raining.
